If You Don't Know Where You Are Going, You Might End Up Someplace Else - Yogi Berra

Ending Up Someplace Else

9/1/18 (can you believe how fast the year has flown)

“If you don’t know where you’re going, you might end up someplace else.” – Yogi Berra

We all know people who talk big Dreams – the “oughta” and “gonna” folks… you know the ones who constantly say things like, “I ought to do this” or “I’m gonna do that.” They’re good at dreaming about their Dreams… they waste your time talking about their Dreams… they might make some plans for their Dreams… they may even do something here and there that moves them in the direction of their Dreams, but at the end of their lives they look back and realize that they drifted to a place that is anywhere but their Dreams.

To keep from living an “oughta” and “gonna”-ridden life, we need to put a few things in place:

  1. A clear vision for the future – this is our destination.
  2. An honest assessment of where we are (part of the Foundation Stones of Success).
  3. A map that allows us to plot our course from where we are to where we want to be (beginning by Accepting Responsibility For Your Life).
  4. Good Friends to be our blindspot mirrors and keep us on the right path.

If we do these four things consistently over a lifetime, then we will live a life of Purpose with a Happiness that is not of this Fallen World (Happiness Is Not A Goal).

My Girls, I hope and Pray that you will focus your Dreams on Loving God and People (whatever that looks like for you) and define a path that leads to the Love you seek, moving and growing in that Love each day, and all along the way finding Peace, Joy, and Happiness by reflecting on a life well-lived in the active and intentional pursuit of Dreams that hold Eternal value.

Challenge Question: Where are you going TODAY?

God’s Word: Colossians 3:1-17, Philippians 3:17-21, and Hebrews 12:1-3
