“You can’t cross the sea merely by standing and staring at the water.” – Rabindranath Tagore
Many people want to do many things, but they don’t for a myriad of reasons, such as fear, distraction, laziness, or a lack of competence, fitness, or general confidence, but regardless of the reasons why, the end result is nothing – a nothing day leads to a nothing week leads to a nothing month, year, decade, and life, and today’s opportunities slip into the darkness of tomorrow’s regrets.
My Girls, as I survey my life, I have successfully navigated many seas (and been shipwrecked in a few), and what I have found is that there are always new ones that lie ahead. When one chapter of life closes, a new one opens (actually I have several books open at the same time), and the decision to stand on the bank and stare at the sea or get in a new boat must be answered once again. In fact, even today I’m staring at a couple of the seas, one of which requires me to answer the question, “Should I turn the themes and thoughts captured in these Post-It Notes into a book?” Time will tell whether or not I had the courage to get in that boat, but regardless of my decision there, I Hope and Pray that you will journey across your life’s seas – those things for which God uniquely made you to be His Hands, Feet, and Mouth to those around you, and that you will spend your days, not on the banks, but crossing the great divide between opportunity and achievement of your dreams.
Challenge Question: What sea do you need to cross TODAY?
