“Simple” rarely equals “Easy” – Dad
If you think about it, running a marathon is simple – just put one foot in front of another for 26.2 miles. That’s pretty simple, right? Sure it is, but it’s far from easy, especially if your idea of exercise is walking from the couch to the refrigerator and the bathroom as you waste a Saturday watching old Kung Fu movies.
Even in my marathoning prime, when I could just show up for a marathon on a whim and complete it, it was never what I would call easy, because I always pushed myself to whatever limit for pace I could handle physically, mentally, and emotionally for the conditions and weather of the day.
My Girls, any Dream that’s worth anything may be simple to outline and execute (put one foot in front of the other), but it won’t be easy to achieve. You’ll need to prepare mentally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Ultimately, your success will be determined by the questions:
- “Were you willing to grind out all the simple things daily?”
- “Did your self-discipline defeat laziness and comfort enough days in a row to be worth anything?”
Challenge Question: What will “Simple” look like for you TODAY?
God’s Word: Galatians 6:9, Hebrews 6:11-15, and 2nd Corinthians 6:3-10
