Negative Thoughts Can’t Lead To A Positive Life

11/8/18

Brandy, Addy, and Grace,

“Negative thoughts cannot lead to a positive life.” – Michael Todd

Life isn’t always going to be easy. In fact, easy is the exception – not the norm. Although I encourage you to Keep Life Simple, I also know that Simple Rarely = Easy.

Addy, I remember when you were about five or six-years-old, you were riding your bike in Woodbury, CT on the sidewalk, and your mother said, “Watch out for that tree.” Shortly thereafter, you rode straight into it, because you had the tree on your mind, and you fixed your eyes on it… Where your mind went, so did you. It’s the same way in life… Whatever you fix your mind on is where you will go – for good or bad.

If you have in your mind what you’re looking for, you will find it (except for car keys – car keys are the exception to this universal rule). If you’re walking on a beach looking for shells and sand dollars, that’s what you’ll find… If you buy a new car, then you’ll notice all the cars on the road that are like yours, because your car is on your mind… If you focus on the bad things in life, then that’s what you’ll see, and you’ll head in that direction – the other side of that is true as well when it comes to thinking about the good.

My Girls, I Hope and Pray that you will focus on the good things around you. Regardless of your circumstance, find something good to dwell on and keep a clear vision for your dreams.

If you’re looking for some more teaching on this, I recommend: Planted & Under Fire, by Michael Todd. This message came when he was a guest teaching pastor at Fresh Life Church. In fact, I recommend subscribing to Fresh Life Church’s podcast.

Challenge Question: What good can you focus on TODAY?
