Happiness Is Not A Goal It's a By-Product

Happiness Is A By-Product… Not A Goal

“Happiness is not a goal; it is a by-product.” – Eleanor Roosevelt

Most of us chase after “happiness” as if it was a destination. We often seek it through a job, a relationship, the achievement of some goal, or a myriad of other pursuits, and these things in themselves aren’t bad, but we need to understand something fundamental – they will never deliver what we expect of them… They likely won’t deliver on time… They likely won’t deliver to the degree we’re searching for, and what they do deliver likely won’t satisfy for as long as we were hoping.

My Girls, the secret to “happiness” is found when you Keep Life Simple: Love God and Love People (revisit that post for more details). It’s in these that you find “happiness” as you do your job, have your relationships, achieve your goals, and do whatever else you’re Called to do in life. I Hope and Pray that you’ll grab on to this Truth.

Challenge Question: Is your plan of the day rooted in Loving God and People TODAY?

God’s Word: Matthew 22:36-40, Luke 12:13-21, Matthew 25:14-30, 1st Timothy 6:17-21, and Psalm 16:5-11 & 43:1-5
